Executive

The district is headed by the Deputy Commissioner who is also the District Magistrate and District Collector. As the Executive Head of the Provincial Government in the district, he supervises and coordinates the functioning of all other Provincial Government departments in the district.

At present the charge of Deputy Commissioner is held by Mr. Muhammad Ilyas. The Assistant Commissioner Chakwal is Mr. Sajid Rasheed Baloch. A.C. Talagang is Mr. Tariq Bajwa and A.C. Choa Saidan Shah is Mr. Khalid Rana.  

District Chakwal is divided into three subdivisions- Chakwal, Talagang and Choa Saidan Shah; and the Deputy Commissioner is assisted by 3 Assistant Commissioners, each heading a subdivision, and carrying a role similar to the D.C. in their sub-division, assisted by the 6 Extra Assistant Commissioners / Magistrates..

The police set up is commensurate with the establishment of the district administration.  The district police force is headed by the Senior Superintendent of Police who is assisted by 3 Sub-divisional Police Officers of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, each heading a subdivision. There is also a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Headquarters, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Legal Branch, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police, CIA. Subdivision Chakwal is divided into 6 police stations- City, Saddar, Nila, Dhudhial, Dhumman and Kallar Kahar; Talagang into 4- City, Saddar, Lawa, and Tamman; and Choa Saidan Shah has only 1 police station. 

 

 



Judiciary

The judicial system in the district like all other districts consists of the District and Sessions Courts, presided by a District and Sessions Judge or an Additional District and Sessions Judge, and the Courts of Civil Judges and Judicial Magistrates.

There is a District and Sessions Judge in Chakwal, 3 Additional District and Sessions Judges, 1 Senior Civil Judge, 5 Civil Judges and 1 Judicial Magistrate.

 

 

 

 

Revenue system

The Revenue system of the District is headed by the Deputy Commissioner in his capacity as the District Collector.  In the subdivisions, the respective Assistant Commissioners in their capacities of Sub-divisional Collectors assist the District Collector. The Assistant Commissioners are assisted by a Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildars, each incharge of their respective circles.  Each of the three subdivisions are divided into patwar circles, each in the charge of a patwari, who performs the basic revenue work of maintaining record, periodically upgrading it, and collecting all government dues assigned to him.  Two or more patwar circles are constituted into a qanungoi, in the charge of a qanungo, who supervises the work of the patwaries in his qanungoi. 

In Chakwal district, there are 3 Assistant Commissioners, 3 Tehsildars- 1 in each subdivision, 10 Naib Tehsildars, 23 Qanungois and 198 Patwaries .
